The Sleep of Life

📜
Original Arabic •

Urdu Translation •

English Translation •

“People are asleep; when they die, they wake up.”

Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ uses a powerful metaphor for our worldly existence. Most of us live in a state of spiritual slumber, consumed by temporary desires, material goals, and distractions. We treat the world as if it is the ultimate reality. However, death acts as a sudden awakening where the veil is lifted, and the true consequences of our deeds become clear. This saying encourages us to “wake up” spiritually while we still have time to act.
