النَّاسُ بِزَمَانِهِمْ أَشْبَهُ مِنْهُمْ بِآبَائِهِمْ.
Urdu Translation • اردو ترجمہ
لوگ اپنے آباء و اجداد کی نسبت اپنے زمانے سے زیادہ مشابہت رکھتے ہیں۔
English Translation • انگریزی ترجمہ
“People resemble their time more than they resemble their fathers.”
Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ offers a profound sociological insight. While we often focus on lineage and genetic heritage, the Imam points out that the environment, culture, and prevailing spirit of the age have a much stronger influence on a person’s character and behavior. To understand or reform a person, one must understand the “time” they live in. It encourages us to be mindful of the influences our current era has on our values.
