غَالِبُوا النَّاسَ بِمَا يَعْرِفُونَ، وَلَا تُغَالِبُوهُمْ بِمَا يُنْكِرُونَ.
لوگوں پر ان باتوں سے غلبہ حاصل کرو جنہیں وہ جانتے اور پہچانتے ہیں، اور ان سے ان باتوں کے ذریعے الجھ کر غلبہ پانے کی کوشش نہ کرو جن کا وہ انکار کرتے ہیں۔
“Overcome people by using what they recognize (logic they accept), and do not try to overcome them by using what they deny.”
Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ teaches a profound rule of effective communication and persuasion. If you wish to guide someone or win an argument, you must start from common ground. By using principles or facts they already acknowledge, you make your conclusion unavoidable. Using things they reject only creates defensiveness and shuts down the path to truth.
