تبدیلی اور مصلحت
سُئِلَ(عليه السلام) عَنْ قَوْلِ الرَّسُولِ (صلى الله عليه وآله): «غَيِّرُوا الشَّيْبَ، وَلاَ تَشَبَّهُوا بِالْيَهُودِ». فَقَالَ (عليه السلام): إِنَّمَا قَالَ (صلى الله عليه وآله) ذلِكَ وَالدِّينُ قُلٌّ، فَأَمَّا الْآنَ وَقَدِ اتَّسَعَ نِطَاقُهُ، وَضَرَبَ بِجِرَانِهِ، فَامْرُؤٌ وَمَا اخْتَارَ.
آپؑ سے رسول اللہ ﷺ کے اس ارشاد کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا کہ “بڑھاپے (سفید بالوں) کو بدل دو اور یہودیوں سے مشابہت اختیار نہ کرو”۔ تو آپؑ نے فرمایا: آنحضرت ﷺ نے یہ اس وقت فرمایا تھا جب دین (والے) کم تھے، لیکن اب جبکہ اس کا دائرہ وسیع ہو گیا ہے اور وہ اپنی جگہ پر پوری طرح جم گیا ہے، تو اب ہر شخص کو اختیار ہے کہ جو چاہے کرے۔
“Imam Ali (as) was asked about the saying of the Prophet (saw) that: ‘Change the grey hair and do not look like the Jews.’ He replied: The Prophet said this at a time when the religion was confined to a few, but now that its area has expanded and it has been firmly established, everyone is free to choose what he likes.”
Reflections: This saying demonstrates Imam Ali’s (as) profound understanding of “Fiqh” (jurisprudence) and the spirit of the law. He teaches that some instructions were based on the specific social needs of the early Muslim community (such as looking young and strong during war). Once the community is secure and established, the necessity of the rule changes, allowing for personal choice and flexibility.
