True Generosity
“Patience is of two kinds: patience over what you dislike, and patience against what you desire.”
Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ identifies the full spectrum of **Self-Discipline**. Most people view patience ($Sabr$) only as enduring hardship or pain. However, the Imam explains that “patience against what you desire” is equally vital. This refers to the strength required to resist harmful temptations or unethical shortcuts. Together, these two forms of patience create a balanced character capable of surviving adversity and mastering the ego.
