Original Arabic •

Urdu Translation •

English Translation •

“Everything that can be counted is bound to decrease, and everything that is expected is bound to arrive.”

Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ provides a philosophical law regarding the material world. He explains that things which are measurable (like days, wealth, or life itself) are by nature finite—each passing moment subtracts from the total. This serves as a reminder to **value the Immeasurable** (like wisdom and character) and to prepare for the “expected” end of life, which, though it feels distant, is mathematically certain to arrive.
