Knowing One’s Worth

📜
Original Arabic •

Urdu Translation •

English Translation •

“He perishes who does not know his own worth (and his own limits).”

Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ identifies Self-Knowledge as the ultimate survival tool for the soul. Destruction (spiritual and social) occurs when a person either underestimates themselves—falling into despair—or overestimates themselves—falling into arrogance ($Kibr$). Knowing your worth means understanding that you are a creation of Allah with immense potential, but also recognizing your fragility and dependence on Him. A person who stays within their true “limits” remains balanced and safe.
