The Heart and the Tongue

📜
Original Arabic •

Urdu Translation •

English Translation •

“The heart of a fool is in his mouth, and the tongue of a wise man is in his heart.”

Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ identifies the key difference between wisdom and folly. A fool speaks without thinking; his heart (emotions and impulses) moves directly to his tongue. In contrast, a wise person processes every word through their heart and intellect before it ever reaches their mouth. This teaches us the importance of introspection and the discipline of silence.
