Wealth and Independence
دولت اور بے نیازی

الْغِنَى فِي الْغُرْبَةِ وَطَنٌ، وَالْفَقْرُ فِي الْوَطَنِ غُرْبَةٌ.
Urdu Translation • اردو ترجمہ
پردیس میں مالداری وطن جیسی ہے، اور وطن میں ناداری (غریبی) پردیس جیسی ہے۔
English Translation • انگریزی ترجمہ
“Wealth in a foreign land is like being at home, and poverty at home is like being in a foreign land.”
Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ comments on the social reality of human existence. Wealth often provides a sense of security and belonging (like a homeland) even when one is far away. Conversely, when a person is poor, they can feel isolated and ignored (like a stranger) even amongst their own family and friends in their own city. It is a reminder to value and support those around us so that no one feels like a stranger in their own home.
