The Vulnerability of Intellect
“Most of the slips of the intellect occur under the flashes of greed.”
Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ identifies greed ($Tama’$) as a blinding force. He compares it to a sudden flash of lightning—it is bright and dazzling, but it leaves the intellect momentarily blind. When a person is captivated by the “shine” of a worldly gain or a selfish desire, they lose their objective reasoning and fall into error. True intelligence, therefore, requires emotional discipline to stay steady even when tempted by a “glittering” opportunity.
