The Measure of a Person
“The worth of a man is according to his aspiration; his truthfulness is according to his manliness; his bravery is according to his self-respect; and his chastity is according to his sense of honor.”
Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ provides four internal metrics to judge external character. He teaches that a person’s value is not determined by their wealth or status, but by the greatness of their goals (aspiration). Furthermore, he links virtues together: honesty stems from chivalry, courage from a refusal to be humiliated, and moral purity from a deep sense of protective honor. It is a call to cultivate the soul to achieve true greatness.
