The Hypocrisy of the Soul
نفس کی منافقت
لَا تَكُنْ مِمَّنْ يَرْجُو الْآخِرَةَ بِغَيْرِ عَمَلٍ، وَيُرَجِّي التَّوْبَةَ بِطُولِ الْأَمَلِ… يُحِبُّ الصَّالِحِينَ وَلَا يَعْمَلُ عَمَلَهُمْ، وَيُبْغِضُ الْمُذْنِبِينَ وَهُوَ أَحَدُهُمْ.
ان لوگوں میں سے نہ بنو جو بغیر عمل کے آخرت کی امید رکھتے ہیں اور لمبی امیدوں کے سہارے توبہ کو ٹالتے رہتے ہیں… وہ نیکوں سے محبت تو کرتا ہے مگر ان جیسے عمل نہیں کرتا، اور گنہگاروں سے نفرت کرتا ہے حالانکہ وہ خود ان میں سے ایک ہے۔
“Do not be like him who hopes for the Hereafter without action, and delays repentance by lengthening desires… He loves the virtuous but does not act like them, and hates the sinful while he is one of them.”
Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ describes a common spiritual ailment: Passive Faith. He warns against the psychological trap of loving goodness in theory while practicing worldliness in reality. True faith is an alignment of the heart, the tongue, and the limbs. By pointing out the irony of hating sinners while being one, the Imam calls for radical honesty and immediate action instead of relying on the “tomorrow” that may never come.
