Parable of the World
دنیا کی مثال
مَثَلُ الدُّنْيَا كَمَثَلِ الْحَيَّةِ: لَيِّنٌ مَسُّهَا، وَالسَّمُّ النَّاقِعُ فِي جَوْفِهَا؛ يَهْوِي إِلَيْهَا الْغِرُّ الْجَاهِلُ، وَيَحْذَرُهَا ذُو اللُّبِّ الْعَاقِلُ.
دنیا کی مثال سانپ کی سی ہے، جو چھونے میں نرم (و ملائم) معلوم ہوتا ہے لیکن اس کے اندر زہرِ ہلاہل بھرا ہوتا ہے۔ فریب خوردہ جاہل اس کی طرف کھنچتا ہے اور ہوشیار و عقل مند اس سے چوکنا رہتا ہے۔
“The world is like a snake: its touch is soft, but its inside is full of deadly poison. The ignorant, deceived person is attracted to it, while the wise, intelligent person stays wary of it.”
Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ uses this powerful imagery to explain that the danger of the world lies in its **attractiveness**. We often chase wealth, fame, or status because they seem “soft” and comforting, but the attachment to these things often poisons the soul with greed, pride, and forgetfulness of the hereafter. Wisdom lies in utilizing the world’s resources without letting its “venom” penetrate your heart.
