An Arizah is a heartfelt letter written to the Imam of our Time (atfs) to seek his intercession and help in times of need and distress.
✦ Instructions (ہدایات)
1. Writing: Write the Arabic text provided below on a clean piece of paper.
2. Personal Request: In the space indicated, write your personal wishes, problems, or needs in any language you are comfortable with.
3. Presentation: The Arizah is traditionally folded and dropped into a well, river, or sea, or placed in a sacred place.
4. Intercession: When dropping it, address the 3rd Na’ib of the Imam, Husayn bin Rawh, to hand it over to the Imam.
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ. كَتَبْتُ يَا مَوْلايَ صَلَواتُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكَ مُسْتَغِيْثاً ، وَشَكَوْتُ مَا نَزَلَ بِيْ مُسْتَجِيْراً بِاللّٰهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ثُمَّ بِكَ.
اللہ کے نام سے جو نہایت مہربان اور رحم والا ہے۔ اے میرے مولا! آپ پر اللہ کی رحمتیں ہوں، میں نے یہ خط فریاد کرتے ہوئے لکھا ہے، اور جو مجھ پر گزری ہے اس کی شکایت اللہ عزوجل اور پھر آپ سے پناہ مانگتے ہوئے کی ہے۔
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. I have written to you O my master, may Allah’s blessings be on you, seeking help, and I complain to you about what has descended upon me, seeking refuge with Allah and then with you.
مِنَ الْاَمْرِ الَّذِيْ دَهَمَنِيْ وَاَشْغَلَ قَلْبِيْ ، وَاَطَالَ فِكْرِيْ ، وَسَلَبَنِيْ بَعْضَ لُبِّيْ ، وَغَيَّرَ خَطِيْرَ نِعْمَةِ اللّٰهِ عِنْدِيْ.
اس معاملے کے بارے میں جس نے مجھے اچانک آ گھیرا ہے، میرے دل کو پریشان کر دیا ہے، میری سوچ کو طویل کر دیا ہے، میری عقل کو سلب کر لیا ہے اور مجھ پر اللہ کی عظیم نعمتوں کو بدل دیا ہے۔
From the affair that has taken me by surprise and occupied my heart, and made me think a lot, and has stripped away from me some of my core, and has changed the great blessings of God that are with me.

یہاں اپنی حاجات اور پریشانیاں لکھیں
فَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَافْعَلْ بِيْ مَا اَنْتَ اَهْلُهٗ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ، بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ.
پس محمدؐ اور آلِ محمدؐ پر رحمت نازل فرما، اور میرے ساتھ وہ سلوک فرما جس کے آپ دنیا و آخرت میں اہل ہیں، اپنی رحمت کے صدقے اے سب سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والے۔
So send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and do for me what you are worthy of in this world and the hereafter, by Your mercy, O most Merciful of all.
