Anger and Madness

📜
Original Arabic •

Urdu Translation •

English Translation •

“Anger is a type of madness, because the person who experiences it eventually regrets it; and if he does not feel regret, then his madness is firmly established.”

Reflections: Imam Ali ؑ provides a profound psychological definition of anger. When a person is angry, their logic ($`Aql$) is suspended, and they act without foresight—the very definition of madness. **Regret ($Nadam$)** is the proof that the intellect has returned. However, the Imam warns that if a person justifies their rage and feels no remorse, it indicates a deeper, permanent distortion of the character. This wisdom teaches us to treat anger not as a sign of strength, but as a mental ailment that needs healing through patience.
